Immersed in Nature

Old trees, rushing water, moss everywhere.  And the sound of children laughing. Wet, dirty, excited, happy children, at home with the moss. Welcome to the Tracks & Tales Forest, just east of Duvall, Washington, and only 40 minutes from Seattle.  For ten years, children have been coming here, playing games, clambering over logs, challenging themselves to build fires and shelter, basking in the forest’s beauty and mystery.

Personalized Attention

Our classes are small, averaging four to six students per instructor, which allows us to give each child attention and be very flexible with our programming. What do the kids want to do today? Forage for spring edibles? Use coals to make a burn bowl or practice throwing a rabbit stick? Build a canoe out of twigs and twine, and try it out? Create a foot-powered lathe and carve wood with it? We’ve done all these things, mixed in with stories, and laughter, and just the right amount of games.

Programs for Children from 4 to 17

We offer week-long summer camps in the summer of 2019.  Each week is different, and children benefit from coming multiple weeks.  See our calendar in June and July for exact dates and times.

During the school year, we offer weekly classes every Monday.  We have an open enrollment policy so children can enroll at any time.

Do you have a teen or pre-teen?  Our Rite of Passage program will begin in 2019 and includes a year of mentoring and a rite of passage / quest in the summer of 2020.
